About This Project

For this project I built a circuit that converts AC power into DC. The interesting part was hooking it up to an oscilloscope so I could actually see what was happening to the signal instead of just measuring a number at the end. Watching the sine wave on the oscilloscope screen change as it went through the circuit, and seeing it flatten out into a steady DC line, made the whole concept click in a way it never did just reading about it. It was a simple project, but seeing the waveform actually change with my own eyes was probably the coolest part of it.

Technical Challenges

Getting a clean, stable DC output instead of a bumpy one, and figuring out how to actually read and interpret what the oscilloscope was showing me.

What I Learned

Finally understood what AC-to-DC conversion actually looks like in real time instead of just on paper, and got a lot more comfortable using an oscilloscope.

Project Goal

Built an AC-DC power converter and used an oscilloscope to watch the signal actually change from AC to DC.

Engineering Focus

Focused on power electronics circuit design and reading oscilloscope waveforms.
